Teaching Artist

"The arts teach children that it’s OK to be expressive. It’s OK to be who you are. It’s OK to have a voice. And no matter what anyone says you can or cannot achieve or become, the arts teach our children to be the leaders of tomorrow who think with an open mind, value teamwork and creativity, and embrace the acceptance of differences as a strength rather than weakness. Instead of celebrating sameness, the arts teach our children to show up, be seen, and break the mold." ~ Amanda Beagle

I began my career as a teaching artist with SMARTS - Students Motivated by the Arts in Youngstown, OH in 2001, helping to deliver quality arts education to some of the regions most under-served youth. I created interactive dance and theater classes designed to promote literacy and foster a safe place for creativity, self-discovery and team building. I have trained as a Teaching Artis with The Metropolitan Opera's Education Department and Lincoln Center Education's Teaching Artist Development Labs. Fundamental to my teaching philosophy, I believe all students can benefit from an active participation in the arts. I champion integrating arts activities into classroom curriculum and after school programming as a tool to motivate students to learn and succeed.

I am available to facilitate after school and weekend workshops as well as in-class arts integration activities to compliment current classroom curriculum. I have also successfully administered theater and improvisation based workshops for seniors, adults with special needs and business professionals alike. I also provide master classes in performance and audition techniques and personal presentation meant to help young performers find their confidence and authenticity.
