The renewal of the Christmas season and the new beginnings brought on by the new year allow for a great opportunity for growth and reinvention. The best advice I can give any pageant hopeful is to use this time of renewal to face the rest of the competition season with a fresh and positive attitude. It's easy to let past setbacks get you down, but I challenge you to replace negative behaviors with positive ones. Here are five tips for reinvention in the new year.
2. Use the power of visualization. It is important to visualize your goal. If you don't believe it will happen, no one else will believe you can do it either. It's your job to sell what you have to offer to the judges. Show them that you believe you are the best person for the job.
3. Remember why you want to win. It's not enough just to want to win a crown. Judges want a girl with heart. Never underestimate the power of a contestant who competes while genuinely communicating her passion for the pageant system and her cause.
4. Try new things. Don't hesitate to mix it up a little bit. Experiment with new colors, hair styles, and talent choices. When you step outside of your comfort zone you will begin to grow, gain confidence, and depth as a competitor. Consider your entire competition package and make sure your image is clear and well rounded.
5. Seek expert advice. If you have done all you can on your own, don't hesitate to seek professional advice. An evaluation from an expert pageant coach can save you time and money. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh perspective to help spark positive changes in your overall performance.
Best wishes as you face the new year! Let it be a time of fresh perspective and positive personal growth.
